Free Press Houston
Independent Houston monthly, published 2003—2018.
The publication
Free Press Houston was an independent Houston newspaper founded in 2003 by Omar Afra, who published and edited it. It ceased publishing in 2018. Alongside the printed run the paper staged the Westheimer Block Party, Free Press Summer Fest (2009—2017) and Day for Night (2015—2017). The records held for Afra's years at the paper — bylines, staff boxes and evidenced issues — are indexed at Omar Afra at Free Press Houston, 2003—2018.
The Free Press Houston Archive is a separate preservation project. It holds the surviving record described on this site; it is not the newspaper and did not publish it. Its statement on the paper's former website is at The former website.
