The Free Press Houston record was recovered from surviving web pages, correspondence, hard drives and printed issues. A great deal of the photography and moving image in it arrived without complete credit metadata: filenames were rewritten, captions were lost in a site migration, and files passed between staff, contributors and photographers over fifteen years.
Where a source states a photographer, videographer or rightsholder, the archive records that credit against the individual object and displays it. Where no source states one, the field is left empty rather than filled by inference. The archive publishes what it holds and states how it was established; it makes no claim of ownership over the works it presents, and it asserts no rights position beyond what a held source carries.
The archive would like to credit this material correctly. If you made a photograph or video held here, if you can identify a maker, or if you hold rights in a work and want its record corrected or the work withdrawn, please write to omarSafra@gmail.com. Please include the address of the page and, if you can, anything that establishes the attribution — an original file, a contact sheet, a printed credit, a message from the time.
Corrections made this way are logged in the archive’s public corrections record. Addresses do not change; records are corrected in place.
