George West is the electronic solo project of Houston musician Vik Montemayor, also known as the drummer for Bang Bangz. Combining atmospheric synthesizers, percussion, and everyday field recordings, Montemayor developed a sound shaped by both family memory and the environments around him. Silverio (2015) and the Palmetto EP (2017) document this approach; the latter takes its name from the Houston street where his parents’ relationship began. The George West name itself recalls a South Texas town encountered on family journeys between Houston and northern Mexico, locating the project within a personal cross-border geography.
