Fredster is a Houston DJ associated with the city’s independent club and arts events. A playlist prepared for Pop Shop America documented selections spanning indie rock, electronic pop, and dance music, including Phantogram, Yeasayer, Justice, and Le Tigre. Fredster’s local appearances included Pop Shop Houston programming and nights at Grand Prize, Boondocks, Ladybirds, and Axelrad. These settings connected record selection with the social life of Houston’s creative community, placing the DJ within a network of neighborhood venues, makers’ events, and informal dance floors rather than a single genre or institution.
