The Tontons are a Houston band documented at Free Press Summer Fest in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2015, including a 2015 Saturn stage set that the paper said proved “why they keep getting heat from everywhere.” Free Press Houston consistently billed them as “Houston’s The Tontons.” Its reporting also records the band’s local management by Mark Austin’s Convoy Group and his observation that the group drew roughly twice the audience in Houston that it did in Austin, a detail that frames them as a distinctly hometown draw.
4 appearances documented on Free Press Houston bills. Records are kept to the lineup sources the archive holds; nothing beyond them is stated.
