Free Press Houston

Jagi Katial co-founded Free Press Summer Fest and served as its talent buyer, playing a central role in the festival's early programming and artist booking. The archive's held lineup records name him among the festival's curators alongside Omar Afra, and independent coverage held here reports that he started the festival in 2009 with Free Press Houston publisher Omar Afra. He founded and ran the Houston promoter Pegstar, whose work Free Press Houston covered in its own 2015 interview held in this archive. Through Pegstar he was also a co-operator of Fitzgerald’s at 2706 White Oak Drive during the Pegstar / Free Press Houston years, 2010—2015, and the venue's principal booking figure; the held retrospective records his account of that period.
