Gio Chamba is a Houston duo formed by singer and guitarist Gio Alejandro and percussionist Coffee Guzman. Its music combines cumbia with psychedelic guitar, electronic production, rap, and live congas, bringing acoustic percussion into direct conversation with contemporary dance rhythms. Performances at Free Press Summer Fest and Houston’s Super Bowl Live, alongside appearances at festivals in Fort Worth, Chicago, and New York, carried this approach beyond the local club circuit. Gio Chamba’s work documents a strand of Houston Latin alternative music in which regional traditions remain open to experimentation, improvisation, and collective dancing.
