Vincent Moon + Priscilla Telmon
Híbridos, the Spirits of Brazil is the long-term project of the filmmakers Vincent Moon and Priscilla Telmon, recorded over several years among the spiritual and religious rituals of Brazil, from Candomblé and Umbanda to ayahuasca churches and Pentecostal congregations. At Day for Night 2017 it was presented as an audiovisual environment with two modes: a passive installation in which the films ran across the room, and live performance in which Moon and Telmon mixed the footage and its sound in real time before an audience.
The work is documented here through NYLON's coverage of the edition and the surviving curatorial record; the archive holds no photograph of the Houston presentation.
