Cocolab
Outside was created in 2017 by the Mexico City studio Cocolab for Day for Night. The studio's own record describes an interactive mechanical installation with the character of artificial life: a built organism whose behaviour is governed by a set of programmed emotions, and which expresses those states to the people around it through light, movement and sound, reacting as visitors approach, linger or leave. The work carried the working title Elastico in the surviving curatorial record and was presented under its final title, Outside.
It is documented here through the studio's project record and the curatorial record; the archive holds no photograph of the installation.
