Kinda Akash + William Arnold + Jimmy Gass + The Mill
UPROAR was a large-scale digital projection and data visualisation made at The Mill by Kinda Akash, William Arnold and Jimmy Gass, and premiered at Day for Night 2017, three and a half months after Hurricane Harvey. The project's public documentation describes its two data sources: the storm's own precipitation, wind and water measurements, and the activity of the #HOUSTONSTRONG hashtag on Twitter through the same days. The two were combined in a fluid simulation, so that the physical record of the flood and the record of the city's response to it moved as one projected body of water.
The surviving curatorial record describes the piece as a large fluid simulation responding to Harvey imagery. It is documented here through the makers' project page and video; the archive holds no photograph of the installation.
