Overflow

Sam Cannon

  • digital film
  • projection

Overflow was Sam Cannon's work for Day for Night 2017, a large outdoor projection at Post HTX. Hyperallergic's preview of the edition described what she was providing: a kaleidoscopic compilation of her recent, time-sensitive works, brought together for the festival and thrown at building scale, so that the looping, mirrored moving image she had been making for screens became an exterior surface of the site after dark. The surviving curatorial record independently identifies Overflow as the large projected film made for the festival.

The title is confirmed by the artist's public documentation of the work and by the contemporary press. Overflow is documented here through Hyperallergic's preview and the curatorial record; the archive holds no photograph of the Houston projection.
