Markus Heckmann
transduktor is Markus Heckmann's mixed-media light object, shown at Day for Night in Houston in December 2015. The artist's own project record describes a long Plexiglas box suspended from the ceiling and filled with fog; a projector inside it produces continuously changing generative patterns, and the fog turns the projected light into a three-dimensional sculptural body that appears to hang in the air rather than sit on a surface. A sound component reinforces what the artist calls the tension between the dense interior of the box and the open space around it. His CV lists the work at Day for Night, Houston, 2015, as a mixed-media light object.
The surviving placement record independently locates a suspended box of light, fog and sound in the gallery hallway of Silver Street Studios, and Free Press Houston's preview of the visual programme named Heckmann's audiovisual installation Transduktor. The archive holds no photograph of the Houston presentation. Heckmann also performed at the 2015 edition with Matt Thibideau; that live audiovisual work, Reclusion, is recorded separately.
