Julien Bayle
ALPHA is Julien Bayle's live audiovisual performance, given at Day for Night in Houston in 2015. The artist's own record describes the system: sound and image are produced together on stage, with real-time analysis of the audio feeding an algorithmic visual generator, so that every image is computed in the moment from what is being heard. There is no prerecorded footage in ALPHA; the visual material is generated three-dimensional form, and the piece is listed among Bayle's performances rather than his installations. His biography names Day for Night among the places ALPHA was performed, and a video of the Day for Night performance is published on his own channel.
The surviving staff and artist grid for the 2015 edition independently lists Bayle as a projection and visual artist. The archive records ALPHA as a performance, not an installation: it had a time, not a room. No photograph of the Houston performance is held; the artist's video is linked as documentation.
