Bardo

Bardo was built by Michael Fullman's Los Angeles studio VT Pro Design for Day for Night 2016. The studio's account of the build, published on the Derivative community site, and its own project record describe an interactive light architecture: a built structure of light in which motion tracking follows the position of the people inside it and the light responds to where they stand and how they move, so that the room is never the same for two visitors. Houstonia's photo essay placed it among the most popular installations on the ground floor of the post-office building and wrote that it evoked the sense of a rave, without music.

The title is the Tibetan term for the intermediate state between one life and the next. The work is documented here through the studio's records and the contemporary press; the archive holds no photograph of the installation. VT Pro returned in 2017 with Telestron.
