Blurware

Blurware was Alex Czetwertynski's own installation for Day for Night 2016, the second year the curator showed work in his own programme. In FLOOD Magazine's feature on the festival he described the piece: a full-size excavator covered over in pillows, its arm and body softened into a padded form, used as the surface for projected imagery in which natural forms and software-generated material move across the machinery. The work concerns intermediate states, between software and hardware, between being awake and asleep, between the physical and the digital, and it puts a machine of earth-moving weight to sleep under bedding and light. The Houston Chronicle's preview of the edition's conceptual artists listed it among the works, and Houstonia's photo essay captioned it from the floor.
