The Beans formed in Houston after drummer Brendan Hall brought vocalist Sam Griffin, guitarist Christian Galatoire, and bassist Daniel Taylor together for a jam session in December 2010. Their music drew from Delta blues, jazz, psychedelic rock, and the regional legacy of musicians such as Lightnin’ Hopkins. The self-titled album and the song “Carnal Constant” document a sound built around grainy vocals, guitar-driven arrangements, and a prominent rhythm section. The Beans placed these older musical vocabularies within Houston’s contemporary club scene, emphasizing ensemble interplay and the physical intensity of live rock performance.

One appearance documented on a Free Press Houston bill. Records are kept to the lineup sources the archive holds; nothing beyond them is stated.
