Black Coffee was a Houston hardcore punk group whose brief, concentrated songs joined abrasive guitars to confrontational vocals. The band’s 2012 demo identifies Halston on guitar, Parrot on bass, Ford on drums, and Ryan on vocals; it was recorded by William Hesser at the Boat House. Alongside its original material, the release included a cover of the Offenders’ I Hate Myself, connecting the group to an earlier Texas hardcore repertoire. A live recording from Free Press Summer Fest 2012 and later demo sessions preserve its activity within Houston’s independent punk scene.
