Suraj K, also known as Suraj Kurian, is a Houston DJ and organizer associated with the bass-music event series Gritsy. Emerging from the city’s rave and jungle communities, Kurian helped establish Gritsy in 2006, creating a local platform for dubstep and sound-system culture. In 2017, he and his wife opened The Dive in downtown Houston, a small venue that hosted house, techno, drum and bass, and other electronic music until its 2022 closure. His work connects performance, promotion, and venue-making within Houston’s continuing underground dance-music history.
