Night Drive developed as a Houston–Austin collaboration between Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon, combining synthesizer-driven pop with post-punk guitar textures and imagery drawn from science fiction. The duo’s self-titled debut album arrived in 2017, with Houston’s release show at The Secret Group. Performances at Free Press Summer Fest, Day for Night, and Sound on Sound connected its club-oriented music with the Texas festival circuit. Later joined by drummer Nick Dudek, Night Drive extended this approach through recordings that balanced analog synthesizer warmth, insistent rhythms, and an interest in cinematic atmosphere.
