Gracie Chávez is a Houston DJ, writer, and co-founder of Bombón, the collective established with Alex “Navó” Nava in 2010. Raised on Houston’s Northside, Chávez drew from family listening traditions that included cumbia and disco, later bringing tropical bass and Latin dance music into the city’s clubs. Her work has also encompassed music journalism, KPFT’s Son Pacifica, Girls Rock Camp, and public programming at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. Through these overlapping roles, Chávez connected Houston’s dance floors with independent media, music education, and a wider conversation about the city’s Mexican American cultural life.
