Chase Hamblin is a Houston singer-songwriter whose sixties-inflected pop was a recurring subject for Free Press Houston, which called him “Houston’s best kept secret” and, more than once, one of the city’s best songwriters. The paper’s blog announced a 2009 in-store at Cactus Music for his EP A Fine Time, and he later recorded the full-length VAUdeVILLE as Chase Hamblin & The Roustabouts, the band billing under which he often appeared. The archive holds his sets at Westheimer Block Party in 2009 and Free Press Summer Fest in 2009 and 2010, and its coverage follows later singles such as “Fools” in 2016, solo acoustic openings and ensemble projects around the city.
