Black Congress brought musicians from Houston’s punk, metal, and experimental rock communities into a forceful local ensemble. Contemporary coverage identified Bryan Jackson as its frontman and noted the involvement of drummer Chris Ryan and former Fatal Flying Guilloteen member Roy Mata. Performing at venues such as Mango’s alongside Balaclavas, the group combined hard-rock weight with the abrasion of the city’s underground scene. Its recorded work includes the 2010 singles Davidians / London’s Burning and Defeated / Slums of Heaven, followed by Unfortunate Hubris in 2013.
