The Mahas was a Houston garage-punk band led by Scott Snot. Contemporary coverage places its debut at The Mink in December 2009 and documents a July 2010 performance at the former Blossom Street Gallery in the Heights, sharing a bill with Muhammadali and Davey Crockett. The group’s direct, energetic songs circulated through informal rooms and the city’s do-it-yourself concert network. The surviving live review preserves The Mahas within a local culture sustained by small audiences, shared bills, and performances that brought musicians and listeners into close physical proximity.
