The Energy emerged in Houston in 2009, bringing together musicians associated with NO TALK, the Homopolice, and Wicked Poseur. Early coverage of its announced debut at The Mink described compact punk rock with affinities to the Ramones and Pere Ubu, while a demo included the Ramones song “Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World.” The Energy’s First Album followed in 2010, with Get Split in 2011 and Beyond Delay in 2013; the catalog also appears under the name The Real Energy. These recordings document an overlapping branch of Houston’s garage and underground punk community.

One appearance documented on a Free Press Houston bill. Records are kept to the lineup sources the archive holds; nothing beyond them is stated.
