The Gold Sounds was a garage-rock trio from Deer Park, within the Houston metropolitan area. Contemporary accounts of performances at The Mink and Walter’s on Washington described a forceful blend of sixties garage textures, blues-based riffs, and glam-inflected rock, driven by bass-led vocals and heavy drums. The album Seismic Love received a Houston release show in 2010, documenting the group’s move from local live sets into a fuller recorded statement. Its history broadens the geography of Houston independent rock beyond the inner-city clubs where many of its performances were reviewed.
