Satin Hooks was a Houston experimental rock trio associated with singer and guitarist Kerry Melonson and bassist Lucas Gorham. A 2006 profile documented a working method that moved between prepared structures and improvisation, drawing on punk, electronic music, drum and bass, and hip-hop. Early material circulated through MySpace, including “Soda Song,” as the band developed its arrangements for local stages and recording sessions. Gorham’s later formation of Grandfather Child connects Satin Hooks to another branch of Houston’s independent scene, illustrating how experimental collaborations helped generate new ensembles and musical directions.
