Ghost Town Electric was a Houston rock project active around the late 2000s and early 2010s. Its 2012 release Midway documents a sound identified by the group with desert rock, psychedelia, and punk. The recording was made and mixed on analog tape, then cut to a polycarbonate disc using a 1940s Presto lathe, making the production process a distinctive part of the surviving release. Midway preserves Ghost Town Electric’s place within Houston’s independent rock community and its engagement with older recording technologies as tools for contemporary music.
