Ghormeh Sabzi brought psychedelic pop and experimental rock to the Houston independent music community. The Cupcake EP, released in 2010 from recordings made largely in 2009, documents an ensemble featuring songwriter and vocalist Cameron Bina, keyboardist Ari Bina, guitarist Brett Taylor, bassist Joe Folladori, organist and producer Diego P. Arcienega, and drummer Jaime Nava. Recorded at 1816 Calumet and mastered by Carl Saff, the release combines guitars with layered keyboards and organ. Its credits preserve a detailed record of the collaborative, locally recorded music circulating through Houston’s late-2000s underground.
