The Weekly Music Round Up: Jan 31st- Feb 7th
There are so many things going on in Houston, but we are going to try something new this time. Instead of trying to fit every single event on here (as much as we want to), we are going to try and cover a wider spectrum of musical happenings, in a smaller round up.
January 31:
So many things happening tonight, it was almost impossible to pick, so we have a tie for our choices:
DJ Mark Lee (Khruangbin) and Kristine Mills
Why: With so many DJ’s spinning the same tired dance songs, ad infinitum, an event like this is refreshing. The evening guarantees to introduce us to music from all over the world, and should be as educational as it is entertaining.

When: 5-11pm
CHangoMan
Why: If you are in the mood for something as worldly as it is bizarre, then you need to experience CHangoMan. Innovative, multicultural, CHangoMan promises you will “dance and rock at the same time.” The show is FREE!
Where: Continental Club
When: 10pm
February 1:
Chelsea Wolfe, Sarah Jaffe
Why: If you haven’t seen this rising starlette yet, you are missing out. She has completely embraced a posturing that is both darkly magickal and intensely ominous, but her music is out of this world. I predict that she will be a big deal sooner than later, so get on that Wolfe train early.

February 2:
Benefit for Lyla Lagner, featuring Muhammad Ali, Talk Sick Brats, Say Girl Say, Love Horse, Lluvia Dreams, Future Blondes, Thou Shalt Not Kill…Except, & Melanie Jamison
Why: The line up on this thing is huge, it’s a benefit show, and you get to see a lot of great Houston bands. What could be better?

February 3:
The Residents
Why: Watch This and See For Yourself

February 4:
We have another tie for this night! Metal Vs. Punk!
Sabaton, Saxon King, Black Hole Caravan, Brymwulf
Why: So much heavy, your back is going to be sore.
Where: Scout Bar
When: 8pm
Lechugillas, Cop Warmth, FG & The Gunz, Guwange
Why: This show is going to make you want to take a shower, and maybe start a punk band of your own.
Where: Mango’s

February 6:
Diana Ross
Why: I hope I don’t have to explain. She’s still alive. She’s responsible for Destiny’s Child, Michael Jackson and his families’ career, etc. Make the drive, buy the ticket, see the one and only Supreme Diana Ross.
Where: Arena Theater
When: 8pm
February 7:
Corrections House, Co-Pilot
Why: Members of Neurosis, Eyehategod, and Yakuza form the supergroup Corrections House. This band has been getting a lot of hype, so come see why. Not to mention, you get to see Co-Pilot, and that’s always awesome.
