History

The site and the festival

The Washington Avenue corridor west of downtown Houston is a band of former industrial and warehouse properties, a number of them converted to studio, gallery and event use. Silver Street Studios is one of these conversions and sits within the cluster now operated as Sawyer Yards.Sawyer Yards

Day for Night debuted here on December 19—20, 2015, presented by Free Press Houston and Work-Order. Advance coverage announced New Order and Janelle Monáe closing the main stage on Saturday and Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus on Sunday.Houston Press

After the first edition the festival moved to the former Barbara Jordan Post Office at 401 Franklin Street downtown for its 2016 and 2017 editions. That site has its own place record in this archive.
