History
What the sources establish
The Engine Room was one of the East Downtown rooms carrying touring and local bookings in the years before the Pease Street building changed hands.
The closing was announced by the venue itself rather than reported first by the press; the Houston Press picked it up on July 30, 2008 and noted that remaining dates were off.
Address lineage
What was at 1515 Pease Street
One East Downtown building carried two venues in sequence. The Engine Room occupied 1515 Pease Street until it shut in July 2008, announcing the closing on its own MySpace blog and cancelling the dates it had left.
The same address later operated as Jet Lounge, which ran until 2016. Free Press Houston filed a report from Jet Lounge's last show in March of that year.
The archive holds the two as separate venue records sharing one address rather than merging them, because the operators, booking and periods differ.
