• Niko Niko’s began with a fruit stand whose name joined the founders’ sons’ shared name. The restaurant’s history describes Chris and Eleni Fetokakis turning an old filling station into a walk-up Greek café, with equipment supplied by Pete Pappas. The window opened on May 1, 1977. Eleni’s work and the family’s later involvement made the Montrose restaurant a lasting Houston institution.
