• Jenni Tran-Weaver opened her first noodle house at Jefferson and Hutchins in 2002, encouraged by her mother and restaurateur Jeff Gale. In a 2011 interview she credited artists, art lovers and Houston’s gay community with keeping the early business going. Their following helped the restaurant move to Shepherd and expand. The business’s own story still centers Mama Tran’s recipes, connecting the menu to a family kitchen.
